Why did you remove the audio file from the "girl" article on this Wiktionary?
deasaichI would appreciate knowing the reason behind the edit and the lack of comment. You left no comment or reason for me not to undo your edit. Kibi78704 (an deasbaireachd) 19:40, 21 dhen t-Sultain 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for reaching out. I considered leaving comments, but thought it might be inappropriate to do so in English. If you listen to the audio file, you'll see that it's of very poor quality and is difficult to hear; Commons has much better audio files for multiple accents of English. I've been working on removing some low-quality, redundant audio files so they can be deleted at Commons. Metaknowledge (an deasbaireachd) 19:46, 21 dhen t-Sultain 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for replying; I really appreciate it.
- I did listen to the file and realized that it wasn't en-gb, rather it was en-us. I did leave your edit as is, but looked for a replacement in Commons. There wasn't an example in any other English accents, but there were some "extra" files in en-us (girls and girl's) - I cannot differentiate between the two, but why not? A non-native English learner might find them useful; I added them to the en-us pronunciation in that article.
- Bless you for your work on raising the bar in Commons. The quality is so variable across audio files that I no longer "hear" the poor ones. I'm used to listening to much poorer quality audio files than most of what I've heard on Commons, though. The language lab at my university was just awful.
- BTW - I'm really the only one working on this Wiktionary; English is my native language. You are always welcome to leave a note in English. (I don't expect you to remember that, but thought I'd mention it anyway.)Kibi78704 (an deasbaireachd) 04:01, 22 dhen t-Sultain 2020 (UTC)
