Counting in Gàidhlig is tricky. The correct term depends on what you are counting. By default, with no parameters, this template outputs the italicized string singilte ("singular"). Otherwise, this template takes a single parameter with a variety of values:

• Either gràmar, gràm, pearsa, or pear outputs the plain text string aonar ("singular").
• Either àireamh, àir, {{t.voc}}, gairmeach, or gair outputs the plain text string a h-aon ("one", used for counting, or without a noun)
• Either oiread or uiread outputs the plain text string aon ("one", but must always used with a noun)
• Either plèinor lom outputs the plain text string singilte ("singular").
